E! News longtime host Catt Sadler is leaving the network after 12 years, and the reason behind her goodbye was that her male co-host Jason Kennedy earns more than her.
The 43-year-old host, Catt said: “Up until this point, I mean it has been a dream job. A dream job. I’m from Indiana, born and raised, and I had my sights set on E! and I’ve seen the world. I’ve had the best experiences. I’ve gotten incredibly close with all of my coworkers. It’s like a family here, and it’s been beautiful for the majority of my run. I pinch myself every day the job that I get to do. I have so much fun. It has almost been surreal.”
On Tuesday evening in a blog post, she said that she wanted to stay at E! News, but the channel has refused to pay. Catt is a host on E! News since 2005 and is one of the best-known personalities. She is the single mother of two sons— Arion Boyd, 12 and Austin Boyd, 16.
Catt was told about the end of her contract and was notified that executives at E! News wanted to extend her deal, but about the time this was happening she says, she was “informed and made aware that my male equivalent at the network who I started with the same year. And have come up with doing essentially similar jobs, if not the same job, wasn’t just making a little bit more than me but was making double my salary and has been for several years.”
On behalf of the network and Jason, a spokesperson at E! in a statement to PEOPLE says, “E! compensates employees fairly and appropriately based on their roles, regardless of gender.” A spokesperson continued that they appreciate Catt Sadler’s contributions at E! News and wish her all the best following her decision to leave the network.
