Blue Ivy Carter might be the only person who tells her parents what to do.
The 6-year-old daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z has thrown up bids at an art auction on Saturday. The three have attended the 2018 Wearable Art Gala at Alexandria Ballrooms in Los Angeles— organized by Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles Lawson and her husband as well as Beyonce’s step-dad Richard Lawson for raising money for a non-profit art and performance complex.
Blue held onto her own paddle while sitting down during the auction but the proud father tried wrestling it away from her when the bid was at $17,000. She has initially bid $17,000 for an acrylic painting of a young Sidney Poitier. As the auction continues and the price of the art piece went up, Blue again bids at $19,000.
The moment when Jay-Z tried to stop her continuing to bid, was captured on the camera and went viral on the social media. Host Star Jones has told the crowd that Blue’s mother and father have been talking about how they gather art and that is a big deal for African Americans. She has shared, “Listen, you know Ms. Tina told me all of this. Why you think I’m up here talking about it?”
When the auctioneer said, “19 for Miss Blue, yes, and she’s like, ‘I like that,'” Blue looked so excited to be respected. Then, Tyler Perry bid $20,000 and won the art piece but Blue didn’t allow the Carters to go home empty-handed.
As per Vanity Fair, she bid on the next item— a 36” x 36” art piece made up of deconstructed law and medical books California— and won with a final price $10,000. The outlet has said that Beyonce also made a winning bid of $17,000 on a set of panther earrings by Lorraine Schwartz, which she has previously worn to an event. The gala’s theme was ‘Waco to Wakada’— inspired by “Black Panther.”
