After nearly nine years of marriage, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum are splitting up.
The pair has announced their separation in a joint statement to PEOPLE. The former couple wrote on Twitter Monday, “Hey world!” They have revealed, “So… We have something we would like to share.”
Channing and Jenna have said that it feels odd that they have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives they have chosen to lead, which they also happen to be deeply grateful for.
The duo has said that they are living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get altered into “’alternative facts”, so, they want to share the truth so everyone knows that if they didn’t read it here then it’s most certainly fiction.
In a joint statement, Channing and Jenna shared that they have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple, they fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together.
They have said, “Categorically, nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.” They added that they are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to their daughter Everly [turning 5 in May] and won’t comment beyond this, and they thanked all in advance for respecting their family’s privacy.
Most recently, the couple has attended the Kids’ Choice Awards together—where Channing has hit the stage for promoting his new animated film, “Smallfoot.” They first met on the sets of their movie “Step Up” in 2006 and began dating before getting married in 2009.
In mid-March, the former couple has shared adorable shots from a face painting session with their daughter, Jenna has posted a silly snap of Channing and captioned, “When you fall asleep around a toddler.”
