While everyone caught guards by Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson’s surprise engagement, the 24-year-old star has been working on finding the perfect ring for his bride-to-be since May, as per the jeweler who has designed sparkler.

Greg Yuna, New York City-based celeb jeweler has told E! News that Pete reached out to him weeks ago with a big [expensive] request. Greg has told E! News, “Pete called me at the end of May and said, ‘Look, I’m getting a ring. This is what I want.’ And I told him that I had the right ring for him. He didn’t tell me who it was for but told me to keep it a secret. He didn’t tell me anything about it.” The jeweler has confirmed that the “Saturday Night Live” star has paid a hefty $93,000 for the 3-carat pear-shaped bliss.

While Greg has said that the ring has taken two weeks in the making, Ariana was seen wearing it in early June. The 24-year-old pop star was first seen donning the stunning ring during her performance iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango concert on 2nd June in Los Angeles. Pete was behind-the-scenes at the event supporting his now fiancée as news of their relationship started swirling, he also made sure to rave about her “lit” set.

The couple— who started dating each other in May after Ariana’s split from her rapper beau Mac Miller— have been expressing their love for one another on social media. In mid-May, Pete has also confirmed that he had separated from his longtime girlfriend Cazzie David and had since covered up the tattoo of his ex’s face on his forearm.

The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer is one of the many stars who got engaged with a pear-shaped diamond ring. Jeweler Jason Arasheben, of Jason of Beverly Hills, has told PEOPLE about the popular shape, saying, “Because it’s a shallower cut, pear-shaped stones show bigger than cushion or round and give a very elongated appearance.”
