Meghan Markle has suffered a wardrobe malfunction during her birthday outing.
On Saturday, the former “Suits” actress has celebrated her 37th birthday by attending the wedding of Prince Harry’s long-time friend Charlie van Straubenzee to Daisy Jenks. Her undone top button has revealed that Meghan was donning a black lace camisole under her color-black, pleated shirtdress from Club Monaco. Despite she resecuring the top button, some users on Twitter have accused the not-so-royal moment of being “deliberate.” One user has said, “Meghan stole the show with her deliberate wardrobe malfunction.” Beaumont Etiquette founder as well as an expert in all things, Myka Meier has told PEOPLE that wardrobe malfunctions don’t qualify as breaking royal protocol, they are accidents.
Myka has explained, “Meghan did not break royal protocol when her bra showed, as accidents or wardrobe malfunctions are not considered going against dress code rules. Her bra showing was not believed to be deliberate, in which case she would not have been seen to be disrespectful by the palace.” Royals aren’t immune to the occasional outfit rebellion when Kate Middleton had a Marilyn Monroe moment during a visit to Mahatma Gandhi’s house during her 2016 royal visit to India.
Similarly, the royal mother of three’s yellow dress was caught in a gust on an airport tarmac during the couple’s first royal tour to Canada. Some have reported that the monarch Queen Elizabeth puts weights in the hems of skirts for avoiding any chance of an unflattering picture. Despite the malfunctioning, Meghan was all smiles for her first birthday as an official royal after her own wedding in May.
Though the newlywed couple arrived at the church separately as Prince Harry was with the friends of the groom helping with arrangements, Meghan and Harry were seen holding hands together at the ceremony. While the 33-year-old royal prince tended to his duties, Meghan interacted with various women— including Celia McCorquodale, whose wedding she has attended with her husband in June.
