Avril Lavigne has released her first single in five years to blow out the fans out of the water. Following a series of social media promotion, Lavigne has just released a brand new single “Head Above Water” from her forthcoming album. The ballad has been co-written with Stephan Moccio and Travis Clarke who are the producers of the album.
Lavigne wrote a letter to her fans that was published last week, in the letter Lavigne wrote that “she had spent a few years at her home to fight Lyme Disease. These were one of the worst years of her life as she had to battle physically as well as mentally.” She even said that “I was able to turn that fight into music I’m proud of. I wrote songs in my bed and on the couch and recorded there mostly as well. Words and lyrics that were so true to my experience came pouring out of me effortlessly. Truly…by keeping my spirits up, having goals to reach and a purpose to live for, my music helped to heal me and keep me alive.”
The new single “Head Above Water” is the first song that has been written by Lavigne during the scariest moments of her life. She added that she had accepted her death and even felt that her body was shutting down. She left like drowning in the sorrow of disparity. She has described the scenario by saying that “Like I was going underwater and I just needed to come up for air. Like I was in a river being pulled in a current.”
The first single is going to tell the story of the singer and the way she suffered for a term of five years. Lavigne shared her Lyme disease with people three years ago.
